The sixth annual USA Hockey Warrior Classic, hosted by the Motor City Veterans Hockey Association, will take place October 28-30 in Troy, Michigan.

All games will be played at the Buffalo Wild Wings Arena (formerly Troy Sports Center).

 

Warrior teams from around the country will arrive in Michigan to participate in a weekend of hockey that is dedicated to U.S. military veterans with a disability who also play ice hockey. To be eligible, all players must be or have been veterans and members of the Armed Forces and meet a minimum disability rating through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW

Thursday
October 27th

Welcome Reception/Check-in

& Charity Cornhole Tournament

Tournament 6:30-10:00pm

 

Pizza and soda will be provided, alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase in the bar located in the Priority Rink. Meet & greet activities will be held in Rink C.

 

The USA Hockey Women’s Warrior team will have practice ice available in the Priority Rink at 9:15pm.

 

As part of the evening’s festivities, Motor City Veterans Hockey is hosting a free cornhole tournament from 6:30pm-10:00pm.

 

Each registered team in the tournament will be eligible to submit one team to compete in the tournament (limited due to time constraints).

The tournament will be double elimination.

The prizes are as follows:

  • Grand Prize: $1,000

  • Second Place: $500

  • Third Place: $250

  • 5 th & 6th Place: $125

 

In order to be eligible for competition, cornhole teams MUST sign in by 6:30pm. Late entries will NOT be permitted.

TEAM CHECK-IN - between 6-9 pm. in Fraser, or prior to first game on Friday at the Troy Arena.

 

If teams don't check-in Thursday, make sure you give yourself enough time to get to Fraser if that is where your first game is.  There is NO CHECK-IN at Fraser on Friday morning.

Troy - Rink 4

7:00pm-8:30pm

Nominations for participating players due no later than October 21st, 2022.

 

Admission to the game is free to all Warrior Classic participants and guests. The game will be held in Rink 4, with pre-game festivities beginning at 7:00pm

 

Participating players will be expected to arrive in Rink 4 no later than 6:30pm to check in and meet with event coordinators. Players who do not arrive on time will be replaced with a standby player. Players must bring their represented team’s white jerseys and socks. Dark colors will not be permitted. If a player does not have a white/light jersey, a USA Hockey jersey will be provided instead.

 

The exhibition will consist of two 25-minute running clock halves. Participants will be briefed by event coordinators of specific game rules following 6:30 check-in.

 

During halftime, a chuck-a-puck contest will be held for the chance to win one of three $100 B&R gift cards. Chuck-a-pucks will be available for purchase during the first half. There will also be a 50/50 drawing at the end of the game and various raffle prizes available.

 

The Detroit Red Wings Alumni roster will be published approximately one week prior to the event.

All teams play games 3&4 on their schedule, based on reseeding format, top two teams in each division advance to Championship Game on Sunday!

Warrior Hockey Night at Little Caesars Arena

Detroit Red Wings Vs. Minnesota Wild

7:00pm

Team representatives will receive requested ticket allocations to their listed email address through the Detroit Red Wings Ticketmaster Account Manager. The tournament operations team will send a notification out 24 hours prior to ticket distribution, and representatives will have 24 hours from allocation to claim their tickets. Unclaimed tickets will be returned to the tournament operations group for donation to Vettix.org or local Veteran charities. Teams who did not request tickets prior to the October 1st deadline are not guaranteed an allocation of tickets but may request tickets prior to October 28th for $49 each.

 

NOTE:  Transportation is not provided to Little Caesars Arena. The arena is located at 2645 Woodward Avenue Detroit, MI 48201. For parking options, including discounted pre-pay options, please visit www.ParkDistrictDetroit.com for information.

Following the completion of the game, all Warrior Classic participants will be invited onto the ice for a full group photo. Players are encouraged to bring one of their jerseys to the game and wear it for the photo op to represent their team!

ROSTER REQUIREMENTS

  • All players must be on the approved USA Hockey roster for this event.

  • All individual players are required to check-in prior to their first game.

  • If a team plays with an ineligible player or a player who has not checked in, that game will be deemed a forfeit.

GAME RULES

  • All games will be played following USA Hockey Warrior Hockey/Adult Hockey rules. No fighting.

  • Ice time slot: 1 hour 20 minutes

  • 3 minutes, start as soon as Zamboni doors close.Warmups

  • Three 15-minute stop-time Period Intermission: 3 minutesPeriods

  • Penalties: Minor (2 min), Major (5 min), Misconducts (10 min) Time-out: One 60 second timeout per team

  • Overtime (when applicable): 3 player shoot out followed by sudden death shoot out

  • Curfew Rule: In the event a game is delayed for any reason, a time adjustment must take place. In the 3rd period, at the first stoppage of play, with roughly five (5)-minutes left in the allotted ice time, if the game time is not less than 3:00 minutes, the referee shall have the scorekeeper reduce the game clock to 2:00 minutes plus whatever seconds are remaining and continue the game with stop-time.

  • Jersey Rule: Home team will wear dark, away team will wear light. In the case that the team does not have both jerseys or the colors are too close, we ask the coaches/captains of each team to work together to determine who is wearing dark and light prior to each game.
